MIHP is a program for all Michigan women with Medicaid health insurance who are pregnant and all infants with Medicaid. It is a FREE benefit of their insurance. 

MIHP provides support to promote healthy pregnancies, good birth outcomes, and healthy infants.
Services include: 
Maternal and infant health and psychosocial assessment completed by nurse or social worker
Registered Nurse and Licensed Social Worker development of beneficiary care plans
Coordination of MIHP services with the beneficiary's medical care provider and Medicaid Health Plan (who assist and supplement that care)
Registered Nurse, Licensed Social Worker, Registered Dietitian and Infant Mental Health Specialist home or office visits provided with interventions based on the beneficiary's plan of care
Transportation services arranged if needed
Referrals are made to local community services  (e.g., mental health, substance abuse, domestic violence, basic needs assistance) as needed
Referral to local childbirth education or parenting classes

The Maternal Infant Health Program is available to:
St. Clair and Macomb county  women who are pregnant and on or eligible for Medicaid.
Including infants under one year of age who are on or eligible for Medicaid.

This is a FREE service to Medicaid recipients . The Maternal Infant Health Program makes home visits and telephone calls throughout your pregnancy and your baby’s first year. Our team’s goal is to help you to be a healthy mom who has a healthy baby and to support moms and dads to be the best parents they can.​​

    Team Support A whole team will support you and your baby. Nurses will visit you at home to make sure that you and your baby are doing well. The team will coordinate your care with other health care providers. Community health workers (moms like you) will provide support, education and help with community resources. Counselors will help you adjust to pregnancy and parenthood, handle stress or overcome depression. Nutritionists will help you learn to eat healthy and feed your baby.
